Ph.D. Student Zenghe Huang and His Supervisor Xiaofang Dong Published a Paper in Journal of Development Economics

The paper “When the levee breaks: the impact of floods on educational outcomes in China” co-authored by Zenghe Huang, a Ph.D. student of regional economics at the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics, and his academic supervisor Associate Professor Xiaofang Dong, has recently been published in the Journal of Development Economics, a top journal of development economics, which is recognized as a Category A international journal within XMU College of Economics’ own tiered journal ranking system.


Zenghe Huang focuses his research interests on urban economics, environmental economics and development economics. He has published in international journals such as Journal of Development Economics and Journal of Regional Science.


Xiaofang Dong, an associate professor at XMU Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics, received her Ph.D. in economics from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in 2012, and was a visiting fellow in the Labor and Worklife Program at Harvard University during 2022-2023. Her research areas include urban economics and applied microeconomics. She has published in Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Economic Geography, and China Economic Review, etc.
